Earlier, the Yellow Army had a remaining purse of 22.9 Cr. However, they are now left with total money of 19.9 Cr after they acquired Robin Uthappa in an all-cash deal from Rajasthan Royals. The defending champions, Mumbai Indians released a majority of the players who didn't get an opportunity to feature in the last edition of the IPL. Going by their strategies at the auction, MI won't bid for too many players but will go to the hilt in buying players that they have identified as a useful resource for the next season. The amount of 15.35 Cr would ideally suit them to bid for a few players in order to strengthen their 2021 IPL squad.

6. Kolkata Knight Riders – 10.85 cr

Kolkata Knight Riders have a largely settled squad after their retained a majority of their players for IPL 2021. The franchise released a handful of players who either failed to perform or didn't get enough opportunities as part of their squad in 2020. This leaves KKR with an auction purse of 10.85 Cr which will allow them to bid for a few players who would add to their bench strength going into the next IPL season.

7. Sunrisers Hyderabad – 10.75 Cr

After releasing only five players ahead of the auction, SRH sent clear signals of their least expectations from the IPL 2021 auction. The Orange Army retained 22 players, showing a lot of faith and patience in the bunch of talent at their disposal. Even in IPL 2020, SRH managed to punch above their weight and qualified to the last four with limited resources. With an auction purse of 10.75 Cr, SRH would lie to fin tune their IPL 2021 squad.

8. Delhi Capitals – 9 Cr

Delhi Capitals failed to cross the final hurdle in IPL 2021 after they lost a one-sided battle against MI in the IPL 2020 Final. However, the Shreyas Iyer-led side had a fruitful campaign after they made it to their maiden IPL final in 2020. It was no surprise that Delhi released a mere six players and retained a majority of their squad for the upcoming season. However, the franchise will be keen to bid for a few back-up players and use the remaining auction purse of 9 Cr at the auction table.
