Here's a detailed look at MI vs CSK Yesterday IPL Match Result:
CSK jolted early before Rayudu goes berserk
After being asked to bat first, CSK was rocked back early in the first over with the wicket of Ruturaj Gaikwad. However, the duo of Moeen Ali and Faf du Plessis didn't look perturb as they looted the Mumbai bowlers for plenty of runs to all parts of the ground. Mumbai did stage a mini-comeback with three quick wickets in a space of four runs but it was the only moment of joy as what followed was an absolute carnage from Ambati Rayudu.
Rayudu, who has had a fiddling season so far in IPL 2021, looked determined to turn the tables against his former team. The right-hander took the attack to the opposition in making the best use of the batting conditions. He stormed his way to a 20-ball fifty and ended the innings with an unbeaten 72-run knock from just 27 deliveries. It was Rayudu's thumping inning that propelled CSK to an above-par total of 218/4 in their allotted 20 overs.
Pollard's walloping knock proves too good for Chennai
Chasing a huge total of 219 runs, Mumbai Indians began well in the powerplay with both Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma scoring nearly at the required run rate. However, CSK clawed their way back into the game with few quick wickets in the middle-overs until Kieron Pollard took center stage. On a ground with small boundaries, all rested upon the shoulders of Pollard and the Pandya brothers to drive Mumbai home against the arch-rivals in yesterday's IPL match.
Pollard didn't disappoint an inch as he began to free his arms, plundering runs at will from all corners of the ground. In the process, the Caribbean player also registered the fastest fifty of IPL 2021 coming in just 17 deliveries. Despite losing the Krunal and Hardik, Pollard took the sole onus upon himself to close out the game. He eventually did win yesterday's MI vs CSK for Mumbai on the last ball of the match. The 33-year old remained unbeaten as played a match-winning knock of 87 runs.
