Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) owner – Who is the owner of SRH in IPL 2024?

Sunrisers Hyderabad represents the state of Hyderabad in the IPL. The franchise was founded in 2012 and replaced the now-defunct Deccan Chargers IPL from 2013 onwards. Even after 9 years since the franchise's IPL debut, SRH has been known as one of the most underrated teams in IPL history.

From 2016 to 2020, the Orange Army made their way through to the playoffs. But in the last three seasons, the Sunrisers faltered in the league stage and could not progress to the playoffs. They will be looking to put in their best foot forward and turn their fortunes around in the league.

The Orange Army, as they are usually called-as, has taken pride in their on-field performances in the IPL. In IPL 2016, Hyderabad lifted their maiden IPL trophy while falling short in the 2018 IPL final. SRH skipper David Warner has been one of their star performers along with the important likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Kane Williamson, and Rashid Khan over the past few years for SRH.

The Sunriers made some decent buys in the auction that took place in Dubai on December 19. They bought 2023 World Cup winning Australian captain Pat Cummins for a colossal price of INR 20.50 crore. Cummins became the first player to above the 20-crore mark in the history of IPL auctions.

Thereafter, SRH bought Travis Head for INR 6.80 crore after a bidding war with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Head played brilliantly in the World Cup where he started his campaign with a hundred against New Zealand and finished off with another in the final against India at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The Sunrisers also picked up Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga at his base price of INR 1.50 crore. Hasaranga played a couple of seasons for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) before making a move. They also bolstered their pace attack by picking Akash Singh and Jaydev Unadkat.

SRH Owner – Who is the Owner of SRH in IPL 2024?

SRH IPL team Owner

After Deccan Chargers ran bankrupt post the IPL 2012, Sunrisers Hyderabad overtook the team after making a winning bid of ₹85.05 crores (US$12 million) per year for a five-year deal. SRH is owned by Sun TV Network under the ownership of Kalanithi Maran, the Chairman and founder of SUN Group. Sun TV Network is one of India's biggest TV networks with 32 channels and 45 FM radio stations.

While the  SRH owner has been spotted a few times during matches in the IPL, it is her daughter Kaviya Maran, who has been an active part in the working of the SRH as a franchise. Kaviya Maran, who is also the CEO of SRH, has also been seen at the IPL auction table for a few seasons in a row now. Kaviya is one of the biggest supporters of SRH and can be spotted at every SRH match during the IPL. At times, her pictures of cheering for SRH have gone viral on various social media platforms.

SRH Team Brand Value – Who Much Do SRH Owners Earn?

SRH is one of the most popular teams in the southern part of India. Despite not having a huge fan base, the team's ability to punch above their weight has helped the SRH owner make a commercial gain. However, like most IPL teams, COVID-19 had a major impact on the revenues generated for SRH during the last IPL Season. The SRH brand value took a dip of nearly 4%.

SRH's brand value which was nearly $59.6 million in 2019 was estimated around $57.4 million in 2020. The 2020 IPL season being played behind closed doors without any fans had a major bearing on the decreased brand value for most IPL teams. However, if the SRH can continue to put weight behind their IPL performances, it won't be a surprise if the SRH owner is yet making huge profits in the upcoming few years of the IPL.

Unsurprisingly, the valuations jumped back after the 2021 season. SRH were valued at around $62.8 million in 2022.
