Indiawin Sports, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries, is the owner of Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2024. They are the joint most successful franchise in IPL history with an enormous fan following to support them. MI have clinched as many as five titles in the Indian Premier League over the years and are known to be arguably the best-managed franchise in the league.
Mumbai Indians have always stuck true to their motto of ‘OneFamily’, with players, support staff, and the owners sharing a close bond. Having said that, the franchise can be ruthless on occasions to make sure the results are not dwindling.
Mumbai did not have a great couple of years at the beginning of the IPL, enduring disappointing times in 2008 and 2009. They reached the final in the 2010 edition under Sachin Tendulkar's captaincy but could not cross the final hurdle.
In 2013, the captaincy reigns were passed on from Ricky Ponting to Rohit Sharma, and MI immediately won their maiden title by beating Chennai Super Kings in the final. They went on to clinch four more titles in the next seven years, with the last title coming in 2020.
Mumbai Indians have had three mediocre seasons since 2021 and that resulted in the management making some hard decisions for the upcoming season. MI traded in Hardik Pandya from Gujarat Titans and have handed over the captaincy to him, much to the displeasure of Sharma fans. How the whole thing plays out remains to be seen.
