The second ODI of the three-match series between India and Australia is set to be played on Sunday (September 24). Team India won the opening ODI chasing down 277 runs with five wickets and eight balls in hand.
Mohammed Shami and Shubman Gill were the stars for the hosts while the visitors seemed to miss out on a trick with their combination. But will Australia be able to level the series in the second game? Here’s our India vs Australia 2nd ODI prediction.

IND vs AUS 2nd ODI match preview
The Men in Blue are unlikely to alter their winning combination after comfortably taking a 1-0 lead with a win in their series opener. Most of their batters looked in great form with even Suryakumar Yadav smashing a half-century.
Moreover, the third seamer in the World Cup squad Mohammed Shami picked up a five-wicket haul as well and it seems, Mohammed Siraj might be rested for one more match. Adding to it, Ravichandran Ashwin’s ODI comeback also didn’t do any harm to his reputation.
India Possible 11: Shubman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (C & WK), Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Shami
Australia are still struggling with injuries to key players with Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Starc still unavailable. But their bowling attack seemed incomplete in the first ODI with Matthew Short oddly slotted at number eight. Josh Hazlewood is likely to replace him after resting up in the series opener. It also remains to be seen if Spencer Johnson will make his ODI debut.

Pitch Report and expected weather conditions
The pitch in Indore is known to be a featherbed for the batters. It is expected to be the same in the second ODI as well. The venue has hosted six ODIs so far with the average first innings score being 320. India has also recorded a total of 418 runs in an ODI here against West Indies.
Indore experienced a lot of rain in the last two weeks and the heavens are likely to open up yet again on Sunday with a 40% chance. The temperature is expected to be around 25-28 Degrees Celsius on Sunday.
India vs Australia 2nd ODI Dream11 prediction
Here’s our India vs Australia 2nd ODI Dream11 prediction in Indore:
- Wicket-keeper(s): KL Rahul
- Batter(s): Shubman Gill, Steven Smith, David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Ruturaj Gaikwad
- All-rounder(s): Marcus Stoinis, Ravindra Jadeja,
- Bowler(s): Mohammed Shami, Pat Cummins, Adam Zampa
- Recommended captain: Shubman Gill
- Recommended vice-captain: Steven Smith
On current form, Gill is clearly the best captaincy option while Ruturaj is also unavoidable after his performance in the series opener. With the pitch expected to be a brilliant one for the batters, the likes of Warner, Smith and Marsh can be picked. Marsh failed while opening the innings in the first ODI, but he can quickly take the game away from the opposition and hence, has to be picked.
Marcus Stoinis and Ravindra Jadeja are such players who can earn points in all facets of the game. Shami, Cummins and Zampa all are worthy wicket-takers and can turn the game on its head with their bowling. While Gill is in prime form with the bat and is a brilliant option to make the captain, Smith still looked in good touch and can earn a lot of fantasy points as a vice-captain.
IND vs AUS match prediction: India to win
India are certainly the favourites to win this match after the kind of performance they put up in the first ODI of the three-match series. In the absence of senior players, their bench strength stepped up well to help the team win the match. Hence, our IND vs AUS match prediction is in favour of India.
IND vs AUS toss prediction: Australia to win the toss and bowl first
Our IND vs AUS toss prediction is in favour of Australia as Pat Cummins might look to correct his call this time around. The visitors will be keen on bowling first after not being able to defend 276 runs.
Man of the Match prediction: Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill is in great form with the bat and is at the top of run-scoring in 2023 in the format. He would be gutted to not convert his fifty into a century in the first ODI. But certainly, the youngster will be looking to make amends and play a big knock.
