The 2023 ODI World Cup is less than two months away and the hype is just starting to build. As the fans and participating teams gear up for the biggest carnival in the sport, we bring you everything you need to know about World Cup warm-up matches.
As you know, the ODI World Cup hosted in India is scheduled to begin on October 5 with a clash between the defending champions England and New Zealand at Ahmedabad. The hosts, India, will begin their campaign with a clash against five-time World Cup winners Australia.

The World Cup will go on till November 19, with the final also taking place in Ahmedabad. Following the group stage, the first and second semi-final will take place in Wankhede and Kolkata on November 15 and 16, respectively.
A total of 10 teams are set to compete in the ODI World Cup, with teams playing each other once in a round-robin format. India had an automatic qualification as the hosts while England, India, Australia, Pakistan, South Africa, New Zealand, Bangladesh and Afghanistan qualified for the tournament through the ODI Super League. Sri Lanka and Netherlands had to go through the Qualifiers to book their ticket for the World Cup.
Before the tournament kicks off, the teams will get an opportunity to acclimatise and prepare themselves in Indian conditions. Let's take a look at the full schedule of the World Cup warm up matches.

World Cup warm-up matches
The World Cup warm-up matches will take place from September 29 till October 3. Each team will play two warm-up matches, giving their players some gametime before the marquee spectacle.
The warm-up matches will be played at three venues in Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram and Guwahati.
India will play their warm-ups against England and one of the qualifying teams on September 30 and October 3. England will take on Bangladesh in their second warm-up game on October 2nd. Bangladesh's other fixture will be against one of the qualifiers on September 29.

Australia will face Pakistan and a qualifying team in their World Cup warm-up matches on September 30 and October 3. Pakistan will play their other warm up match against New Zealand on September 29. South Africa will take on Afghanistan and New Zealand on September 29 and October 2nd. Afghanistan's second warm up fixture will be against a qualifying team on October 3rd.
