It's all to play for when Sri Lanka and India take on each other at R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. India have won the Asia Cup title seven times, the most among all teams, while Sri Lanka have won the competition six times.
The defending champions Sri Lanka have had quite the journey in the ongoing tournament. They defeated Bangladesh by five wickets in their opening game in the group stage. In the second game versus Afghanistan, they were almost knocked out of the competition but held on to a two-run victory.
In Super 4, Sri Lanka beat Bangladesh once again by 21 runs before going down against India by 41 runs. They met Pakistan in a virtual semifinal on Thursday, where they came out victorious by two wickets in a final-ball thriller. They chased down 252 in 42 overs, with Kusal Mendis scoring 91 off 87 and Charith Asalanka striking 49* off 47.
India's road to the final was more straightforward. After the group match against Pakistan was washed out, they hammered Nepal by 10 wickets to advance through to Super 4. There, they obliterated Pakistan by a record 228 runs in the first game and followed it up with a 41-run win over Sri Lanka to book a spot in the final. They lost the third game against Bangladesh by six runs despite Shubman Gill's terrific century but they had rested half the first-choice side.
Winning the Asia Cup would not just be bragging rights but it would give the champions a huge confidence boost heading into the World Cup.
