Pakistan vs Bangladesh Match Preview

Babar Azam and co. have been the team to beat in this Asia Cup so far. They delivered a superb performance against Nepal at first, where skipper Babar and Iftikhar Ahmed looked in prime form with scores of 151 and 109* to their names respectively.

Shadab Khan also shone, claiming four wickets in the match, as Pakistan won by a massive 238-run margin.

Pakistan carried their rich vein of form forward into the match against India as their bowlers delivered a superb performance to destroy the Indian top-order. All three Pakistani pacers — Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, and Haris Rauf were superb as India struggled to get going.

It was Hardik Pandya and Ishan Kishan who saved the day for India with a brilliant partnership.

The Pakistani batters were also expected to do well bit rain played spoilsport and the two teams had to share the points among each other. The Men in Green will now take Bangladesh in a bid to keep their good run of form going.

Pakistan possible 11: Fakhar Zaman, Imam-ul-Haq, Babar Azam (c), Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Agha Salman, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Mohammad Nawaz, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf

Bangladesh made a poor start to the tournament as they got completely decimated by Sri Lanka in their opening encounter. Apart from Najmul Hossain Shanto, who played a fighting knock of 89, none of the other Bangladeshi batters showed the temperament to play a long innings.

Against Afghanistan, Mehidy Hasan's promotion to the top of the order worked like a charm as the youngster smashed 112 runs, including seven fours and three sixes. Shanto also carried his exceptional run of form forward, smashing 104 off just 105 deliveries.

Their knocks helped Bangladesh in reaching a high total of 334/5 and the bowlers defended the total well, bowling Afghanistan out for 245. After this win, Bangladesh have a good chance of qualifying for the Super 4 as the second placed team from Group B.

Bangladesh Possible 11: Mohammad Naim, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan (c), Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Afif Hossain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Hasan Mahmud

Pitch report and expected weather conditions:

The deck at the Gaddafi Stadium is generally good for batters and is also a high scoring venue. Bangladesh posted 334 runs in the last game as they batted first. Teams batting first have an advantage here as the track slows down with the progress of the game.

Bright and sunny weather is also expected throughout the day of the match. Humidity is also going to be there, which could make the pitch dry, bringing the spinners into play.
