Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Punjab Kings have had completely different fortunes when it comes to take part in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The Super Kings have been exceptional under their enigmatic captain MS Dhoni, who is going great guns in his career even at the age of 41. The Super Kings have won the IPL as many as five times and are also the defending champions. Last year, they defeated 2022 champions Gujarat Titans in the final.
The Kings, on the other hand, played in the IPL 2014 final against the Kolkata Knight Riders. But since then, they are yet to make their way through to the playoffs. The likes of Ravi Ashwin, KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal have not been able to turn their fortunes around.
As far as head-to-head between the Super Kings and PBKS are concerned, the Yellow Army have a slender lead. Last year, it was the Punjab-based team that won by four wickets at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
After being asked to chase down a huge target of 201, the Kings got home off the last ball. Prabhsimran Singh top-scored with 42, but most of their batters chipped in with useful contributions.

There have been several exciting matches between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). One of the most memorable matches between these two teams was the encounter that took place on April 15, 2018, at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium in Mohali.
In that match, Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to field first. Punjab Kings posted a competitive total of 197 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their 20 overs, thanks to half-centuries Chris Gayle and a good fighting knock from KL Rahul. This magnificent knock from Chris Gayle proved to be vital in the context of the game.
Chennai Super Kings did not have a good start to their chase, with Shane Watson and Murli Vijay losing their wickets early in the innings. However, Ambati Rayudu and MS Dhoni held the innings together in the middle overs and stitched a valuable partnership.
