Gujarat Titans made their Indian Premier League (IPL) debut back in 2022 and won the title under the leadership of Hardik Pandya. Then in 2023, Hardik helped the Titans finish as the runners-up after they lost to eventual champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
However, the Titans would not be having the services of Hardik, who made a move to the Mumbai Indians (MI) before the upcoming season. Shubman Gill is the new captain of the Titans and has a massive task in hand.
MI, on the other hand, will be starting their new era under their new skipper Hardik Pandya, who made his IPL debut for the franchise. Rohit Sharma led them for 11 seasons before being placed by Hardik.
The Titans beat MI by 62 runs when the two teams last met in the Qualifier 2 in Ahmedabad. Shubman Gill was the star of the show after he scored 129 runs off 60 balls with the help of seven fours and 10 sixes.
On the back of his knock, the Titans scored 233 for the loss of 3 wickets. Thereafter, GT bowled MI out for 171 in 18.2 overs.

On the other hand, the Gujarat Titans are sitting pretty at the top of the points table with 8 wins from 11 matches and 16 points to their name.
MI chased down a mammoth target of 200 runs in just 16.3 overs in their last game against RCB courtesy of a stunning knock from Suryakumar Yadav who scored 83 off just 35 deliveries. GT, meanwhile, continued their winning run with a 56-run win over Lucknow Super Giants.
They had posted a total of 227 runs for the loss of two wickets in their 20 overs on the back of brilliant knocks from Wriddhiman Saha (81) and Shubman Gill (94*). GT’s bowlers then restricted LSG to just 171 runs in their 20 overs with veteran Mohit Sharma returning with the figures of 4/29 in his four overs.
It remains to be seen if Mumbai Indians avenge their defeat in the previous clash against Gujarat Titans.

GT and MI have faced each other only on two occasions in the history of IPL. Both teams have won a match each. The Rohit Sharma-led side won the first-ever clash between the two teams while GT won the previous clash between the two teams.
The two sides clashed on April 25 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Shubman Gill scored a half-century while David Miller and Abhinav Manohar smashed 46 and 42 runs respectively. On the back of their knocks, GT posted 207 runs for the loss of six wickets in their 20 overs.
In response, MI were never in the chase mustering only 152 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their 20 overs. Only Nehal Wadhera and Cameron Green looked to be in some form scoring 40 and 33 runs respectively. But MI never looked like chasing down the total. Noor Ahmad picked up three wickets while Rashid Khan scalped two wickets along with Mohit Sharma.
