CVC Capital Partners is the Gujarat Titans owner for the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Gujarat Titans are only a two-year-old franchise but have done well, winning the title once.
Ahead of the IPL 2022, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the IPL Governing Council decided to expand the league with two additional teams. Gujarat Titans, based in Ahmedabad, were one of the two new teams.
Titans acquired the services of Hardik Pandya, who was released by Mumbai Indians, as well as Shubman Gill from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rashid Khan from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). They went on to win in their debut season by beating Rajasthan Royals in the final. In the IPL 2023, GT again reached the final but ended up losing to Chennai Super Kings.
Ahead of the 2024 IPL auction, Gujarat Titans received quite the backlash for trading out Hardik Pandya with Mumbai Indians, who have handed him the captaincy. Letting go of your captain, who has taken you to two back-to-back finals and won once, seems perplexing but the GT management saw value in it.

Titans have now made the young superstar Shubman Gill captain of the franchise. In the auction, they brought in the likes of Azmatullah Omarzai, Umesh Yadav, Shahrukh Khan, Kartik Tyagi and Spencer Johnson. Titans didn't quite manage to pick their targets and with Hardik gone, how they fare at the IPL 2024 remains to be seen.
