• Chennai Super Kings:

CSK started their campaign with a five-wicket defeat at the hands of the Titans in the opening game of the tournament. At one point in time, they found themselves hanging in the middle of the table before climbing the ladder with some comprehensive performances under their belt. Devon Conway, Shivam Dube, Ajinkya Rahane and Ruturaj Gaikwad have been their batting mainstays. The likes of Matheesha Pathirana and Tushar Deshpande took charge of picking up wickets at crunch moments. They will face Gujarat in the finals of IPL 2023.

• Mumbai Indians: 

Mumbai Indians started their campaign with two defeats on the trot after being the first team to be eliminated back in the 2022 IPL. But after they beat the Delhi Capitals to secure their first win, the five-time champions found momentum. After beating Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets, MI needed luck to go their way and that came in the form of GT’s win over RCB at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. They beat Lucknow in the Eliminator to enter the Qualifier 2 clash. But lost to Gujarat there to crash out of the season.

• Lucknow Super Giants:

LSG were dealt with a body blow after KL Rahul was ruled out of the tournament midway due to an injury. However, the Super Giants brought in Quinton de Kock to fill that void. The Super Giants had their fair share of ups and downs and in the end, they finished 17 points to qualify for the playoffs after beating KKR at Eden Gardens.

In the Eliminator on May 24th between LSG and MI, Mumbai emerged victorious, knocking Lucknow out of the season. Qualifier 2 and the TATA IPL 2023 final will be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 26th and May 28th respectively.

Which teams are playing the final?

It seems as if it was only yesterday when the Gujarat Titans, the defending champions, squared off against the Chennai Super Kings to commence the highly anticipated 2023 season of the Indian Premier League. KKR, under the captaincy of Gautham Gambhir, have won the IPL twice (2012 and 2014). The team is known for its aggressive style of play and has been backed by prominent Bollywood personalities, adding glamor to their brand.
