LSG vs MI head to head IPL record: Stats, total matches and history

Lucknow Super Giants have faced Mumbai Indians four times in the Indian Premier League, with LSG leading the head to head encounter 3-1.

New entrants Lucknow Super Giants first clashed with Mumbai in 2022, taking on the five-time champions at the Brabourne Stadium. Led by a fine hundred by their skipper KL Rahul, Lucknow managed to post a formidable 199 on the board, which proved to be 18 runs too many for MI.

LSG went on to win the first three games against MI, and completed a double over the rivals in 2022, after scripting a 36-run win against them in the second clash last year. The LSG vs MI head to head saw a 3-0 result in favour of Lucknow after the side completed yet another win against Rohit Sharma’s team in 2023, winning the league game in Lucknow on 16 May.

LSG finished third in the IPL 2023 points table, with MI finishing fourth, and the two then met in the important Eliminator. In the crucial clash, Mumbai finally broke the streak against Lucknow, registering a mammoth 81-run lead, as LSG crashed out of the playoffs race.

LSG have dominated the Mumbai Indians completely in the past having made their debut in the cash-rich league only in the last year. The two teams have faced each other four times so far, with LSG winning thrice. They won both encounters against Mumbai Indians in 2022, and then took a 3-0 lead in the head to head after winning the league game against Mumbai in 2023. However, MI won the playoffs match against the two sides.

Mumbai Indian last win

MI and LSG locked horns in the last season twice in eight days.

In the first-ever face-off between the two sides, KL Rahul yet again starred with the bat smashing 103 runs opening the innings. On the back of his knock and a cameo from Manish Pandey, LSG managed to post 199 runs on the board for the loss of four wickets in their 20 overs.

In response, MI fought hard with their middle-order stepping up superbly only to fall short in the end. Dewald Brevis was the man who gave them the momentum scoring 31 off 13 balls while Suryakumar Yadav also smashed 37 runs from 27 balls. The rest of the batters looked good but had a little too much to do in the end.

MI eventually reached 181 runs in their 20 overs for the loss of nine wickets to lose the match by a margin of 18 runs.

In the second game, LSG, batting first, posted 168 runs on the board in their 20 overs at the Wankhede stadium. Skipper KL Rahul was at his best scoring an unbeaten 103 off 62 balls. In response, skipper Rohit Sharma (39) and Tilak Varma (38) fought with substantial scores but MI could only reach 132 runs in their 20 overs to lose the game by 36 runs.

In the third game between the two teams, also the first meeting in 2023, LSG made 177-3, with Australia's Marcus Stoinis making an unbeaten 89 in only 47 balls. MI came close, but went down by five runs.

In the fourth game between LSG and MI, Mumbai, batting first, made 182-8 in the Eliminator, from where the winner would advance to the Qualifier 2 and the loser would crash out. Lucknow were unable to find any answers to Akash Madhwal's brilliant seam bowling, as they were all out for 101, with the quick ending with figures of 5-5.
