Emerging Media IPL Limited, led by Manoj Badale, has been the Rajasthan Royals owner since the inception of the Indian Premier League. Rajasthan Royals won the inaugural edition of the IPL in 2008 under the leadership of Shane Warne, who passed away last year due to a suspected heart attack.
The Royals defeated Chennai Super Kings in the final that season to clinch the title. However, since then RR have not been able to get their hands on the trophy despite having some of the top players in their ranks. In IPL 2022, Rajasthan Royals reached the final of the IPL for the first time since 2008 but ended up losing to Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat Titans.
Rajasthan Royals have had a journey of highs and lows, and some controversies. In 2010, they were suspended briefly over an ownership dispute before it was overturned. Later in 2013, RR were banned from the competition for two years after a couple of their players were found involved in spot-fixing.

Who is the Rajasthan Royals Owner in IPL 2024?
Manoj Badale, Lachlan Murdoch and RedBird Capital Partners are the Rajasthan Royals owners for the 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League. The Badale-led Emerging Media IPL Limited has the majority 65 percent stakes in the IPL franchise.
In 2008, Emerging Media IPL Limited bought the rights for the Rajasthan-based franchise for a bid worth USD 67 million. This made them the least expensive of the eight teams taking part in the tournament back then.
Lachlan Murdoch and RedBird Capital Partners are the other two investors listed in the RR team ownership. Murdoch is an Australian-British-American businessman. He holds multiple positions namely the executive chairman at Nova Entertainment, chairman at News Corp, executive chairman and CEO at Fox Corporation while also being the founder of Australian investment company Illyria Pty Ltd.
Back in 2008, Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty bought 11.7 percent shares to be the co-owners. But in 2015, Kundra was handed a life ban for his involvement in the match-fixing and betting scandals. The Royals, along with Chennai Super Kings (CSK), were banned from the 2016 and 2017 IPL editions.

According to a report published by Brand Finance in December 2023, Rajasthan Royals are seventh on the list of most valuable teams in the IPL. They have a brand value of USD 62.6 million. Rajasthan Royals are fifth when it comes to Brand Strength Index (BSI) with a score of 68.7.
