Chennai Super Kings vs Mumbai Indians match preview

Chennai Super Kings

The Chennai Super Kings, led by MS Dhoni, have stayed in the top four for quite some time now. They have a chance of going to the top of the table as well if they win their next game. The four-time IPL champions will go into the match after their match against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Wednesday, April 4.

After opting to field first, their bowlers did an excellent job. Barring Ayush Badoni, who scored a spectacular half-century, none of the LSG batters were able to come to terms with the conditions and the CSK bowling attack.

Moeen Ali, Maheesh Theekshana and Matheesha Pathirana picked up two wickets apiece. Ravindra Jadeja got the crucial wicket of Marcus Stoinis by spinning the ball past Stoinis bat. When LSG’s score was at 125 for seven, rain interrupted proceedings once and for all. Both teams got one point apiece.

The CSK vs MI prediction will be heavily determined by the form of CSK bowlers on the infamous Chepauk pitch which aids turn.

CSK possible 11: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway, Ajinkya Rahane, Moeen Ali, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni (c & wk), Deepak Chahar, Matheesha Pathirana, Tushar Deshpande, Maheesh Theekshana

Mumbai Indians

The Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, did not make the greatest of starts after initially losing their first two matches. But they have started to find some momentum and are climbing the ladder. Rohit Sharma’s men are placed sixth in the table with 10 points and a net run rate of -0.373 thanks to wins in five out of nine matches.

They will be supremely high on confidence after beating the Punjab Kings by six wickets in their previous game at the PCA Stadium in Mohali. After being asked to chase down 215, MI romped home with as many as seven balls to spare.

Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan put on a partnership of 116 runs for the third wicket off 55 balls to put MI on the driver’s seat. Kishan scored 75 runs off 41 balls with seven fours and four sixes. Surya raced his way to 66 off 31.

Although both batters got out to Nathan Ellis and Arshdeep Singh, Tim David and Tilak Varma used the long handle to good effect to take Mumbai past the finishing line.

The CSK vs MI prediction also considers that Mumbai have a terrific record in Chennai, one of the best among teams in the IPL.

MI possible 11: Rohit Sharma (c), Ishan Kishan (wk), Cameron Green, Tilak Varma, Tim David, Nehal Wadhera, Jofra Archer, Piyush Chawla, Kumar Kartikeya, Akash Madhwal, Arshad Khan
